Rising

 

Recently I had the chance to snap some pictures of the band Rising during the recordings for their new album.
I'm very much looking forward to their record - judging by what I heard so far it's going to be absolutely kick-ass.

mamiya, roll 2

Today I want to share a few more shots from my Mamiya camera. I just finished the second roll of film and been scanning all the negatives. Since some things on the camera are broken and therefore quite hard to handle, I've been a bit hesitant to take pictures. 3 out of 12 turned out blurry and basically useless, although one of them (the new header of this blog) I really like, despite of its bleariness. It was taken at the Botanisk Have (botanical garden) in Copenhagen. A really beautiful place with lots of green houses (with crazy humidity and butterflies living in it, and my favorite: meat-eating plants!!) and of course, interesting green and colorful living stuff all over. I'm looking forward to visit again, when it's getting sunnier and warmer.
I can feel that spring is slowly coming and it makes me SO happy. This Monday was the first day this year where I was able to ride my bike home from work without it being completely pitch-dark outside! It's still far from being light, though, hehe. Seems like I could escape the winter blues this year - yay! It was pretty bad the last time. Reasons might be that I stick to my daily bike rides from and to work, no matter what weather there is outside. Also, I think, I'm slowly getting a bit more comfortable with Copenhagen, its people, my current point in life and so on.

one of the very few nutters i saw here in copenhagen. people seem to be more sane than where i come from. he was sitting there with his very colourful backpack (damn you, black and white!) waiting for godard.

the heavy contrast is probably caused by pushing an iso100-film to iso200 (first try, i actually like it!)

seriously. if you want to develop film here in denmark and want to do that in a kind of cheap way (means something like getting it done by a supermarket, not a professional photo store) it will be a very difficult task.
first of all, there are rarely any places offering that service anymore. i thought photographing analogue would be HIP and i would find myself in copenhagen, right?!
then, if you found one, you have to wait forever. normal, 35mm, colour print + scan cd - 10 to 14 days. and then it turns out that they're really sending the whole thing to germany to get it developed by the rossmann-guys or someone like that. haha!

it's time for me building up my own lab!
well, at least i'm goin to take care of the black and white ones myself. soon-ish, i hope.

do people get angry or flattered when i photograph their kids? according to my friend they most likely get angry. i'm always worried, while photographing strangers, that one may come and pull out the film from my camera, as i have seen it once happen to my friend in 6th grade (he photograhed a stinky ticket inspector, who was obviously unhappy with his job).

those ladies i watched at the train station in erfurt, cleaning their fruit/vegetable-stand after finishing their daily business, were incredible. quick, diligently, chatty, quirky. what is it like to work at a place like this your whole life? is it maybe even more comforting to have the same patterns of movement and interaction every day than it is boring - the thing that everyone is afraid of? they threw away perfectly good wraps. why didn't they take them home? is it not allowed, or are they maybe fed up with the food for a long time?
